„ELEVEN minutes“ (audio loop, 11’00“)

One day during my 2018 residency at ELEVEN artspace, in the hour between eleven a.m. and noon, I recorded eleven minutes of ambience in the patio of the artspace (then very quiet because all the resident artists were probably at work). These eleven minutes of near silence are the basis for „ELEVEN minutes“. For the installation, they were processed in various ways, among others with a filter effect employing the note E (for ELEVEN) and the frequency of 600 Hz (6 being the number of letters in ELEVEN). This rich sonic texture created out of silence is my homage to the way in which the tranquil atmosphere of ELEVEN artspace has enabled me to focus on new works.

„ELEVEN minutes“ (Audio-Loop, 11’00“)

Das Konzept dieses Stücks spielt mit der englischen Bedeutung des Wortes ELEVEN: der Zahl 11. An einem Tag während meines Aufenthalts im Kunsort ELEVEN 2018 nahm ich in der Stunde zwischen 11:00 Uhr und Mittag 11 Minuten lang die Umgebungsklänge im Innenhof des Kunstorts auf. Es war ziemlich still, da wohl alle Künstler*innen bei der Arbeit waren. Diese 11 Minuten fast völliger Stille sind die Basis von „ELEVEN minutes“. Für die Installation wurden sie auf verschiedene Arten bearbeitet, u.a. mit einem Filtereffekt auf der Basis der Note E (wie ELEVEN) und der Frequenz 600 Hz (weil ELEVEN 6 Buchstaben hat). Diese aus Stille gemachten, aber doch vielschichtigen Klangflächen sind meine Hommage an die ruhige Atmosphäre des Kunstorts ELEVEN, die mir die intensive Konzentration auf neue Arbeiten ermöglicht hat.
