Bamboo Drums Across the Sea
Das Stück basiert auf verschiedenen Klängen, die von und mit Bambusbäumen hervorgebracht werden, darunter das Ächzen alter Bäume, die im Wind schwanken, und eine Percussion-Improvisation von Tine Klink unter Verwendung von gefundenen Bambusstäben. Das Quellenmaterial wurde geschnitten, geloopt und im Mehrspurverfahren montiert, ansonsten wurden die Aufnahmen aber nicht klanglich bearbeitet.
Die Aufnahmen entstanden auf der Azoreninsel São Miguel, wo Bambus in großen Mengen wächst. Als die asiatische Pflanze auf den isolierten Inseln mitten im Atlantik eingeführt wurde, breitete sie sich sehr schnell aus, weil sie dort keine natürlichen Feinde hat.

Bamboo Drums Across the Sea
The piece is based on various sounds produced by bamboo trees, including the groaning of huge old bamboo trees swaying in the wind and a drumming improvisation by Tine Klink using found bamboo sticks. Apart from cutting, splicing, looping, and multitrack overlays, the source recordings were not processed.
The sounds were recorded on the Azorean island of São Miguel, where bamboo grows in large amounts. When the Asian plant was introduced to the isolated islands in the middle of the Atlantic, it spread very rapidly because it has no natural enemies there.
